A science teacher passionate about bringing practical science lessons into California’s schools, Toni Brand, PhD, teaches at Mount Tamalpais School in Mill Valley, California. She teaches 7th and 8th grade students, focusing on the physical, chemical, and biological sciences. Toni Brand, PhD, has been teaching at Mount Tamalpais since 2019. Before that, she held roles as an instructor, biology teacher, and adjunct professor.

Dr. Brand was an instructor at the University of California, Berkeley Extension where she taught medical microbiology. Prior to that, she taught biology at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco and was a substitute chemistry teacher at San Francisco Day School. Her other teaching roles include science tutor at Tutor Corps, mentor for research fellows at the University of California, San Francisco, and adjunct lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (department of cellular and molecular pathology).

Before going into teaching, Dr. Brand had a career in oncology research. She is a recipient of the EnCorps Teaching Fellowship for STEM professionals and is a member of the American Association for Chemistry Teachers and the National Science Teaching Association.

Toni Brand earned her PhD in cellular and molecular pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For her bachelor’s degree, she studied molecular, cellular, and developmental biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
